Battle of Brightlingsea 1995

The story of the battle, to stop live animal exports leaving from the port, at Brightlingsea, Essex.

This account is for the people, to provide an unbiased, but sympathetic, photographic record of the live animal exports through this small town. I was at the start of the live export trade through Brightlingsea, I realised this was going to be in the history books, of not only the town of Brightlingsea, but of the whole country. I set out to capture the events that were about to unfold.

I took over one thousand photographs of protests, vehicle movements and associated events. I was on the front line whenever possible to capture the nine months of turmoil generated by this trade through our town. I would like to share with you, my photographs and story.
